On Wednesday afternoon, June 17th, members of the City Executive Team joined City Manager, Janine Jordan, and the super-strong, Casper Fire team members, to clean and plant the community gardens at Life Steps Campus.
The gardens provide vegetables and herbs that are used by the residents at Life Steps Campus. This is the 4th year that City teams have helped prepare the gardens.
The Campus is owned by the City of Casper and is managed by the City's long-time housing partner, the Casper Housing Authority (CHA). The programs at Life Steps Campus are supported by the Optional One-Cent tax.
Jamie Purcell is the Executive Director of CHA CARES at the Casper Housing Authority, leading the organization’s community support programs, including food access initiatives and the Urban Thistle Farm.
She worked alongside the city team and hosted a light meal at the Life Steps kitchen for the volunteers after the work was done.
Jamie stated, "Those gardens were transformed for the residents and guests of Life Steps Campus. Thanks to the City leaders!"
